I install mine straight into my Skyrim install directory (ie: %\Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim). The current SUPPORTED version (as for use of this guide) is 1.3.8
exe's, and how to make sure everything is working properly.
This guide will be giving you step by step instructions on how to arrange your mods in Mod Organizer, how to add. Now we're going to get some tools to help with modding, and with performance.įirst we will get Mod Organizer.
I often keep a shortcut on my desktop to Skyrim root directory folder "Skyrim" for quick and easy access to files that I may need or want to edit (like ENB configuration files). Now that Skyrim is installed, open up your installation directory and launch Skyrim Launcher.exe. Putting your game in %\Games will reduce the number of characters in the file name/location. Secondly, when a file name exceeds 254 characters there are also issues in moving, writing, and copying. Some modding tools don't like UAC, and unless you know how to turn it off completely it will be an issue. If you have one HDD or your OS is on a SSD with plenty of room, make a new Steam directory during your Skyrim install located in %\Games (or whatever you want to name your games folder). It is VERY important that you do not install Skyrim to Program Files or Program Files (x86) directories, if that is where steam is installed. Not a simple logout, that Cleanup! will want you to do.
CCleaner is also good for this, or if you have it Cleanup! 4.5.2 is also VERY good at this (plus it makes a dandy flushing sound, reminding you that you're getting rid of all of the shit!). The next step in Phase One is to run a temporary file cleaner. I HIGHLY suggest using this guide for a totally new save). Open %\users\\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim and delete everything in this folder except the "Saves" folder (if you'd like to keep previous saves. CCleaner and/or Revo will make sure that these registry items have been properly removed. The reason for this, is because there will be registry items left over if you just delete the content. I personally suggest using a tool like CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller to do this, instead of simply going into Steam and clicking "Delete Local Content". Lets start by totally uninstalling your current installation of Skyrim. You'll be disqualified for cheating.A clean install of Skyrim, and some random OS tweaks to help performance If you really don't want to pollute your search history, try putting fanciful combinations of naughty words into the search bar until you find the site directly.ĮDIT: Don't look at the post below this one. If you don't want to pollute your search history, try /r/skyrim and braching out from there.
I would recommend putting your needs into a search engine, and you should find what you're looking for within the first few results. I would recommend looking up obscure technical problems related to Skyrim modding that have to do with adult mods that people are trying to hide because they don't want to shame themselves by admitting they have adult mods in their load order but are unwilling to provide the correct information to find a resolution to their issue because they'd rather pretend it's something else that's completely unrelated to the adult mods in their load order when they don't really know what they're doing and it's completely obvious that they downloaded some random adult mods off of a particular adult mod site because they wanted a quick get-up without paying attention to the mod's requirements and without consideration of the often poor quality of those types of mods as well as the numerous technical issues commonly associated with them until you find the site you're looking for.
